About
I am Dr. İrem Erten, a clinical psychologist. From 2019 to 2026 I worked at Middle East Technical University (METU) in Ankara as both a member of the teaching staff and a clinician. As a research assistant, I taught in undergraduate and graduate courses on psychoanalysis, psychopathology and psychotherapy techniques.
Throughout those years I worked with clients as a therapist at the METU AYNA Clinical Psychology Support Unit. From 2021 I served as a clinical supervisor in the unit, accompanying therapists in their case work, and from 2023 I coordinated its Listening Point and Crisis Line.
My clinical work follows a psychoanalytic approach, within the theoretical framework of Freud and Lacan. I have published articles and book chapters in this field and have given talks at the AYNA Psychoanalysis Days and at national and international congresses.
I began my university education in 2007 studying industrial engineering at Koç University on a scholarship. I then turned to psychology and completed my BA in Psychology at İzmir University of Economics. In February 2026 I graduated from the PhD programme in Clinical Psychology at METU. My doctoral thesis was a qualitative study of autism from the perspective of Lacanian psychoanalysis.
Today I continue my work in my own practice, in person and online, and teach an elective course on Child and Adolescent Psychology at Atılım University.
